Certification standards for challenge course practitioners have been established by ACCT. They were voted and approved by the Professional Vendor Members (PVM) at the 2007 ACCT Annual Conference. These standards have now been published and are available for purchase for $20.00 from ACCT. ACCT PVMs will have their Certification programs reviewed by ACCT in August and, pending their approval, will begin offering certification in the fall. Two very helpful documents have been published by ACCT in order to better inform the industry. One is a FAQ Fact Sheet and the other is the ACCT Certification Chart. We encourage you to study this information carefully and use it as a reference in making decisions regarding the certification process for yourself and your organization. A synopsis of the training, experience, and testing requirements is provided below.
Certification standards for challenge course practitioners are categorized by the type of certification and by the level of certification. The tracks of certification include:
- Full Certification (low and high)
- Spotted Activities Only (low)
- High Activities Only (static or dynamic operating system or both)
- Site/System Specific.
At the time of this writing, CDI will offer all types of certification. Limited options will be available with the Site/System Specific Certification.
The levels of certification include: Level I and Level II. Note: Challenging In for existing practitioners and managers requires documentation of training and experience plus taking both a written and practical skills test.
